Digi Dare #196

Here's a page for a dare at The Digi Dares. The dare was to scrap a miracle and keep the layout mostly white. As usual, this challenge really was a challenge! I scrapped about something that happened just a few days after my youngest brother committed suicide.

Journaling says: Two days after you died, we were all still in shock. The family was gathering together, grieving and asking a million questions, chief among them, “Why?”

I was standing outside the farm on the patio. It was very late and very dark. I was waiting for our cousin and his family to arrive from VT. I looked westward at the clear, cold autumn sky and began talking to you. Finally, I said, “Joel, I just need a sign... I need you to let me know that you are OK.” A second later a shooting star streaked across the October sky, followed moments later by another.

Your stars were my answer and your answer is my miracle.

Honest Scrap Award!

Alright, I just got tagged with the Honest Scrap Award by my sister-in-law Danielle! I am now supposed to list ten truths about myself and then pass this along to others! So here we go:
1. I am crazy about the Enneagram (I am an 8w9.) and I've typed most of my family and friends.
2. I have six tattoos and plans for at least two more.
3. I am a conspiracy theorist and proud of it -- the paranoid ones are the ones who survive!  LOL
4. In November 2008, I started practicing Aikido and I am in the dojo two to five times per week.
5. One of my most under-used talents is shooting pool.
6. I love to go to county fairs and dive bars.
7. I hate spiders.
8. My beverage of choice is a dry, full-bodied red wine. (But at a dive bar, I drink beer right out of the bottle.)
9. My favorite novel is Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund; my favorite series is The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and my favorite work of non-fiction is The Great Influenza by John M. Barry.
10. I am frequently underestimated.

So, now I tag Caren!

The New Year's LO That Almost Wasn't

Feels like forever that I've done a page, even though I'd been doing pages like crazy for my creative team work at Scrap n' Art.

Anyway, using a way cool kit I picked up at Scrap Matters, I did a LO about our fantabulous New Year's Day celebration -- where I did not take one photograph!  Can you believe it????  Neither can I, but I salvaged the memories like this:

Anyway, it just goes to show that you don't always need photographs to make a LO!
